That’s cricket!

March 16, 2013

Today I saw my first Pakistani cricket match.  Gosh, they’re good.  All of them.  They take it incredibly seriously.  There’s none of the good old English false modesty and telling people that they’re better than they are.  It’s far too serious a matter for that – no passengers allowed.

The match was part of a tournament to mark Commonwealth Day.  Pakistan, India, GB, Australia and Canada were represented.  Of those 5 I’d suggest that 4 were cricket-playing nations, and then there’s Canada.  However despite everyone’s predictions, Canada won.  Who’d have thought it?  If this were a gambling country there’d be some rich bookies.

Today son 2 crawled forwards for the first time.  He was after a jigsaw that son 1 and I were doing together, so for ages we were pushing him away. It took a little while, but then it dawned on me that this was the first time that he’d crawled, bless him.  It’s hard being the second child – when son 1 crawled there were bugles blown, balloons and banners.  Son 2 was gently rebuffed.
